My name is Verna Patrice DeBose Randolph,
On May 17th, 1964 I was born in Oakland Ca. When
I was born I was born a twin.
I have a twin brother who came out before me. The
doctor didn't know my mother was having twins. The
nurse delivered me a half hour later. That is why
I have Cerebral Palsy.
I went to a school for disabled children when I
was young. The name of the school is called Charles
A. Whitton school. I graduated Whitton school and
then I went to Skyline High school. I graduated
from High School in 1985.
In 1990 I had my first child. There were only a
few family members who thought I should become a
mother because they felt it would be too hard for
me to take care of my baby.
In 1992 I was going to have my second child when
my son's father, Donell and I were married. My son
Donell Jr. is now 17 and he will be a senior in
High School. My son Dominique is 15 and is going
to be a junior in High School. I am so proud of
them.
Don't let anyone tell you that because of your
disability you cannot be a good parent. I learned
to be a good parent just like every other young
mother does.
